What Are The Flame Retardant Effects Of Flame Retardant Mother Particles

Flame retardants, functional Auxiliaries that give flammability to flammable polymers, are mainly designed for flame retardants of polymer materials. What are the flame retardant effects of flame retardants?
1. Coverage
After the flame retardant is added into the combustible material, the flame retardant can form a glassy or stable foam coating at high temperatures, isolate oxygen, and have the effect of heat insulation, oxygen isolation, and preventing the escape of combustible gas, thus achieving the purpose of flame retardant.
For example, organophosphorus retardants can produce cross-linked solid substances or carbonated layers with more stable structures when heated. The formation of the carbonated layer can prevent the polymer from further pyrolysis, and on the other hand, it can prevent the internal thermal decomposition of the organism from entering the gas phase to participate in the combustion process.
2. Heat absorption
The amount of heat emitted by any combustion in a relatively short period of time is limited. If a part of the heat emitted by the source can be absorbed in a relatively short period of time, the flame temperature will decrease. The heat emitted to the combustion surface and acting on the pyrolysis of the gasified combustible molecules into free radicals will be reduced, and the combustion reaction will be suppressed to a certain extent.
Under high temperature, the flame retardant has a strong heat absorption reaction, absorbs part of the heat released by combustion, reduces the temperature of the combustible surface, effectively inhibits the generation of flammable gases, and prevents the spread of combustion.
3. Inhibitory chain reaction
According to the combustion chain reaction theory, what is needed to maintain combustion is free radicals. The flame retardant can act on the gas phase combustion area, capture the free radicals in the combustion reaction, thereby preventing the spread of the flame, reducing the flame density in the combustion area, and eventually reducing the combustion reaction speed until the end.
4. No gas asphyxia
When the flame retardant is heated, it decomposes non-combustible gas, and the concentration of combustible gas decomposed by combustible material is diluted below the combustion lower limit. At the same time, it also has a dilution effect on the oxygen concentration in the combustion area, preventing the continuation of the combustion and achieving flame retardant effect.
